Hello everyone and welcome to our class webpage!
Monday 9th November 2020
Leopards have made a good start to this half term and have been enjoying our Ancient Egypt Topic. This week we will be learning about building the Pyramids and Howard Carter. Below are details of what else we will be focusing on this week.
In maths we will be doubling and halving within 100 and finding fractions. We have Forest School each Tuesday and will be learning about the changing of the seasons. Music will continue with our recorder lessons.
Here is a copy of our spelling homework page 1.
From next week this information will be updated on Google Classroom. Children will receive a handout with their login details.
Monday 26th October 2020
Well done on your first half term in Year 3. Below is some information about what we will be doing next half term.
- We will be starting our Ancient Egypt topic and will be investigating and doing fun activities to find out what life was like during this time. It would be lovely if you could do some of your own research or think of some questions on the topic that we can share when we return to school.
- In Maths we will be practising rounding numbers and finding the nearest 10.
- We will continue to have PE on Mondays and Wednesdays
- When we return you will also receive a letter about Forest School which will start on the second week back.
Monday 19th October 2020
We have nearly completed our first half term. Well done for all your hard work!
This week we will be learning about time. This is a very important maths skill so remember to practise at home. We will revise telling the time to quarter past and quarter to the hour and will be learning to tell the time to 5-minute intervals on an analogue and a digital clock.
We will carry on exploring our Croc and Bird book and we will use it as inspiration to write our own stories about two unlikely friends. When writing our stories we will practise our handwriting, writing from the beginning to the end of each line, capital letters, full stops and other punctuation.
Friday 9th October 2020
This coming week in literacy we will start our new book Croc and Bird by Alexis Deacon and we will be learning and practising lots of different skills. We will be using observation to help understand the topics and setting of the story. We will also be using illustration to help interpret the story and role play to help understand the characters.
In maths we will be moving on to multiplication and division facts for the 2 and 4 times table, the 5 and 10 times table and the 3 times table. We will also be learning about doubling and halving.
Friday 2nd October 2020
Leopards have been working hard and have been very keen to do their learning. The children were particularly excited to have their first recorders lesson.
We have recorders again this coming week. In literacy we will be using our Here We Are Book as inspiration for making information leaflets about keeping safe and healthy. In maths, we will continue to use our knowledge of number facts, practise our times tables and we will be moving on to using the greater than and less than signs.
Click below for a fun number fact song and some fun times table practise.
NATIONAL POETRY DAY.
Here is our poem. We hope that you enjoy it!
Friday 25th September 2020
Below are our homework links for the upcoming week.
We will be looking at place value, exploring hundreds, tens and ones focusing on things like number bonds. We will also look at some properties of number such as, even numbers.
In literacy, we will continue to focus on our class text Here We Are and we will be writing poems. We are due to start recorders for our music lessons and our RE topic is Buddhism.
Monday 21st September 2020
Well done for your hard work over the past couple of weeks. You have learnt so much already thanks to your enthusiasm.
Last week's homework should be returned today and this week's homework will also be given out today.
For spellings there are options A, B and C. You need to learn the section that has been highlighted for you e.g. if A is highlighted then just learn the spellings from column A.
Enjoy your week.
