French Club
Bienvenue au club français
Here you can find words, songs, phrases, weblinks and more to help you progress with French in between our weekly sessions. There is a section that is relevant to both clubs and then a section that is for KS1 club and KS2 club but of course you can look at it all! Amusez vous.

Key stage 1 |
Key stage 2 |
Both clubs
Here are some phrases we regularly use in both groups. You can practice them at home with a member of your family:
Ça va? | How are you? |
Oui ça va bien merci. | I’m fine thank you. |
Bonjour | Hello |
Bon après-midi | Good afternoon |
Au revoir | Good bye |
A la semaine prochaine. | See you next week. |
Merci | Thank you |
S’il vous plaît | Please (formal version when talking to an adult) |
S’il te plaît | Please (informal version when talking to a friend who is your age) |
Comment on dit…? | How do you say …? |
Je voudrais... | I would like... |
J'aime... | I like/love |
Je n'aime pas... | I don't like/I don't love |
LE/LA
In French, you always have to put the word ' le' or ' la' in front of a noun. In English we only say 'the' so it's harder in French to remember which word to use! There is no rule, you just have to remember it. Here is a useful video from the BBC website which helps to explain this:

GAMES
If you want to practice French while having some fun, you can access the BBC website which contains lots of games, videos and vocabulary.

SONGS

You can also practice singing our goodbye song by clicking on the audio file and singing along with the words.
Here are the words: | and you can listen to the song here: |
C’est la fin de la leçon, Au revoir, au revoir. Nous avons appris des mots, Au revoir et à bientôt.
On se verra la semaine prochaine, Au revoir, au revoir. N’oublie pas de travailler, Au revoir et à bientôt. |
TOPIC OF THE TERM
This term we are learning about being in a restaurant and ordering our food. You can practice saying " Je voudrais des frites s'il vous plaît" (I'd like some chips please") and you can then replace the word with any of the other food we have learnt. How many can you remember?
Here are a few to help you along:
un gâteau/ une glace/ des pâtes/ du sel et du poivre/ une pizza/ des saucisses/ une salade.
We've also learnt to ask how much something costs? Ça coûte combien? Remember that in France, the currency is Euros.
Number chart 1-100
Click the link to this website where you can download a chart with all the numbers up to 100. Watch out as the French do some funny maths to say their numbers from 70-99! Can you work it out...?
