Inclusion
At Baring Primary we will ensure that every child has equal access to the National Curriculum and is able to play a full part in the whole life of the school. We endeavour to enable all children to reach their full potential including those with a gift or talent or a Special Educational Need.
We accept that children may experience particular learning strengths and weaknesses at any stage during their school life, and therefore that children should be treated as individuals. As a consequence, we intend to identify and provide for the child early in their school life, in discussion with parents, so that access to the curriculum will not be hindered later on.
Children who are identified are supported in school according to their individual needs and this support is reviewed regularly. Extra support is provided when necessary and in some cases, with parental consent, the school involves outside agencies to seek guidance and provide additional support.
All teachers are teachers of pupils with special educational needs, therefore the teaching of such pupils is a whole school responsibility.
