BREAKING NEWS: SCHOOL ENTRANCE

You are probably aware that in 2011 Lewisham built additional classrooms in the area underneath the school hall (The Undercroft) so that we could take an extra 30 children into our Reception group that year due to the large number of children in the locality who needed a school place. These children are now in Year 4.

Unfortunately, we have had many problems with the original build and during the last year or so we have had severe water leakage into the rooms beneath the hall resulting in the new Undercroft classrooms being unusable for many months. Year 6 children have been moved into temporary accommodation in the playground and Year 1 class has been squeezed into a ground floor corridor classroom.

We are delighted that after intense intrusive investigations to the Undercroft building and many meetings, Lewisham, through a tender process are now able to start works to fully repair the building and make it water-tight. The works will be extensive and the whole floor and internal walls will need to be removed and re-built. Obviously this amount of work on our small site will cause disruption in and around the entrance on Linchmere Road, especially whilst the digging out process takes place.

We are very pleased that today the work has finally begun. However, due to Health and Safety reasons we must keep the main children’s entrance on Linchmere Road closed. This means that from today children and parents will need to access the school via the Nursery/Reception gate between 8.45am and 8.55am and also between 3.10pm and 3.25pm. We will keep the situation under review and alter arrangements as the need arises. The building work should be completed in December ready for the new school term in January.

Thank you in advance for your tolerance and co-operation.
